Partnership with a Michelin-starred chef: Discover Airlines serves dishes by Egor Hopp
- Egor Hopp has been awarded a Michelin star for the second year in a row
- Available for one year on all Business Class flights since August 1, 2026
- This is the second time Discover Airlines has partnered with a Michelin-starred chef
Since August 1, Discover Airlines’ Business Class guests on both short- and long-haul flights have been able to enjoy creations by the young Michelin-starred chef Egor Hopp. For one year, passengers on flights departing from Frankfurt and Munich can look forward to a selection of dishes from his kitchen, developed specifically for the airline.
From the very beginning, the leisure airline has placed special emphasis on a high-quality culinary offering as an important part of the travel experience. In doing so, it consistently relies on creative partnerships that also underscore the airline’s commitment to quality. The collaboration with Egor Hopp marks the airline’s second partnership with a Michelin-starred chef. In 2024, Discover Airlines served menus created by the multi-award-winning chef Lukas Jakobi.
Egor Hopp took over as chef de cuisine at the Düsseldorf restaurant “Setzkasten” in 2023. Under the 31-year-old’s leadership, the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star for the second consecutive year in 2026 for its outstanding creations. His cuisine combines French culinary art with the culinary influences of his native Kazakhstan and emphasizes high-quality seasonal ingredients.
Between cultures and cuisine
“Our guests fly with us into the most wonderful time of the year. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to make their travel experience special, starting right on board. In Egor Hopp, we’ve found a partner who stands for the highest quality and brings fresh inspiration to the kitchen. His approach of blending different influences and reinterpreting familiar dishes aligns perfectly with our commitment to offering our guests special moments,” says Sebastian Kaiser, responsible for the onboard product at Discover Airlines.
“I love combining different cuisines and culinary influences to continually reinterpret familiar dishes. For me, this fits perfectly with an airline that connects people with new countries, cultures, and—by extension—new flavors. It makes the idea that my dishes accompany guests on their journeys around the world all the more wonderful,” says Egor Hopp.
Egor Hopp has created appetizers, main courses, and desserts for Discover Airlines. Guests can look forward, for example, to sliced salmon fillets with cucumbers, radishes, and jalapeño dressing as an appetizer, as well as braised beef with Gruyère potato pralines, parsnip cream, and pointed cabbage salad with Pommery mustard jus as a main course.
“Gaumenfreude” with Gate Gourmet
Since its inception, Discover Airlines has partnered with Gate Gourmet, a subsidiary of the Gate Group, the world’s leading provider of airline catering and in-flight retail products.
Under the “Gaumenfreude” food and beverage concept, Gate Gourmet creates new, high-quality culinary menus for Discover Airlines three times a year across all travel classes. These menus are inspired by classics of German cuisine as well as international specialties from the destinations in Discover Airlines’ route network.
