In winter 2024/25: Discover Airlines expands route network and flies to Norway and Finland
- Two weekly flights from Frankfurt to Alta in Norway - the only direct flight from Germany
- Once a week to Kittilä Airport in Finnish Lapland
- Already in summer 2024: twice a week to Evenes in Norway
- Flights to Alta and Kittilä bookable from 18 January 2024
In the 2024/25 winter flight schedule, Discover Airlines is expanding its route network with the two new additions of Alta in Norway and Kittilä in Finland. Both destinations are located in the Arctic Circle and form a contrast to the leisure airline's normally predominantly southern holiday destinations. The only exception: Discover Airlines is already taking off twice a week for Evenes in Norway this summer.
With the two additions in the far north, the airline is responding to the growing demand from end customers and tour operators for direct connections to these regions. Thanks to the seamless integration of Discover Airlines into the Lufthansa network in Frankfurt, travelers from all over Europe can reach the two destinations more easily and conveniently than ever before.
Alta in Norway: "City of the Northern Lights"
Between 16 December 2024 and 27 March 2025, Discover Airlines will be flying non-stop from Frankfurt to Alta Airport (ALF) in northern Norway twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight takes around three and a half hours. Discover Airlines is the only airline to offer a direct connection from Germany.
Alta is located in the province of Finnmark, around 230 kilometers from the North Cape and is one of the northernmost communities in the world. From the end of November to mid-January, the sun never rises, making Alta one of the best regions for observing the Northern Lights. It is also known as the "City of the Northern Lights". Alta is the ideal starting point for Arctic adventures from dog sledding, northern lights safaris, ski expeditions, overnight stays in igloo hotels, whale watching or ice fishing.
Kittilä in Finland: winter sports paradise in the Arctic Circle
From 20 December 2024 to 28 March 2025, Discover Airlines will be flying from Frankfurt to Kittilä Airport (KTT) once a week, always on Fridays. Travelers will reach the remote destination in Finnish Lapland after a flight of around three and a half hours.
Kittilä is located around 200 kilometers from the Arctic Circle and is one of Finland's most popular tourist regions. The Levi winter sports area is located not far from the airport. It is the largest and best-known winter sports center in Finland and has been voted Finland's best ski resort several times with its 43 slopes.
In addition to a unique range of winter sports, reindeer and dog sled safaris and snowshoe hikes, visitors can also look forward to a diverse range of art and culture influenced by local artists.
Flights to Alta and Kittilä can be booked from 18 January 2023 at discover-airlines.com, lufthansa.com, all German tour operators and travel agencies.
