Eurowings Discover starts flight operations on short- and medium-haul routes

  • First Airbus 320 took off from Frankfurt to Tenerife on 31 October
  • Two travel classes, sustainable ‘Save a Snack Bag’ offer and German cult crime series ‘Tatort’ available in in-flight entertainment
  • Milestone: 100 days of long-haul flight operations

Just in time for the winter flight schedule, Eurowings Discover started flight operations on short- and medium-haul routes from Frankfurt on October 31. With the first Airbus 320 from the fleet of the young Lufthansa Group airline, guests on flight 4Y 306 took off at 9:40 am from Frankfurt to the island of Tenerife. Currently, in addition to four weekly flights to Tenerife, the vacation airline also operates five weekly flights to Gran Canaria and two weekly frequencies each to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Adjustments to the flight schedule on short- und medium-haul routes are possible in the course of this winter due to changing regulations of individual countries.

In summer 2022, Eurowings Discover will fly from Frankfurt to more than 20 short- and medium-haul tourist destinations with a total of five Airbus 320. In Munich, the airline will start operations in June 2022 with its own short-haul base and five Airbus 320, serving numerous tourist destinations.

High-quality product and unique entertainment program
Guests on board Eurowings Discover’s short- and medium-haul flights can look forward to a special travel experience in Economy Class and Business Class. In Economy Class, there is an extensive Buy-on-Board offer with a wide selection of drinks as well as hot and cold meals. In Business Class, the middle seat will always be kept empty. Travelers can choose between a hot or cold meal including dessert and enjoy an exclusive selection of beverages. Vegetarian and vegan options are available in both classes. For sustainability reasons the airline sells remaining fresh food at the end of all short- and medium-haul return flights for about half the price to take-away (‘Save a Snack Bag’).

Eurowings Discover also provides good entertainment onboard is flights: from mid-November and in both classes, Eurowings Discover will be offering its guests access to Europe's most extensive free of charge in-flight entertainment. 2/2 They can easily connect to the Onboard-Cloud via their own device. A special highlight for all crime fans: the German cult crime series ‘Tatort’ is also available in the program.

Additional milestone: 100 days of long-haul flight operations
On Sunday, 31 October, Eurowings Discover also looked back on its first 100 days of long-haul operations. The young Lufthansa Group airline took off on its maiden flight on 24 July. "100 days of delivering reliable service to the most beautiful destinations in the world. A big thank you to our great crews who spare no effort to make each flight a special experience for our guests. Today, we are not only looking back proudly on the first 100 days – more importantly, we are looking ahead: In extraordinary times we will continue to grow, offer secure jobs and, above all, serve our customers," explains Wolfgang Raebiger, CEO of Eurowings Discover.

The vacation airline will fly a maximum of eleven aircraft on short-, medium- and long-haul routes from Frankfurt this year and grow to 21 aircraft by summer 2022. The youngest Lufthansa Group airline currently employs around 800 people.
