Eurowings Discover raises salaries for cockpit and cabin crews
Leisure airline Eurowings Discover has announced it will implement salary adjustments in the cockpit and cabin as of September 1, 2022 due to the positive market development and the high demand in the tourism sector.
The main changes at a glance
In the cockpit, the previous pay bands will each be increased by a double-digit percentage. As in the past, classification will be based on block hours flown.
In the cabin, the existing salary levels will also be increased by just under double digits in percentage terms.
The allowance for Responsible Cabin Manager (purser) will also be increased.
In view of the upcoming busy summer, flying employees will also receive a single payment in recognition of their effort on behalf of Eurowings Discover.
Both in the cockpit and in the cabin, ongoing offers of permanent contracts have already been made since November 2021. In the cockpit, Eurowings Discover is also hiring solely on permanent basis this year.
"The establishment of Eurowings Discover has fallen into the most severe crisis in aviation, in which no reliable forecasts were possible for the development of the market and demand. The salary structures also had to reflect this circumstance. It was always clear to us that we would make adjustments in the medium term, and we are pleased that the boom summer that is now forecast gives us the opportunity to do so. This will ensure that Eurowings Discover will continue to be an attractive and competitive employer in the future," explains Wolfgang Raebiger, CEO of Eurowings Discover.
"It is great to see that we have been able to work out these comprehensive changes in such a short time and in common dialog with our designated trusted employees in the cockpit and cabin, and that we have already been able to get these changes on track. Since our founding, we have attached great importance to close exchange with our employees, fast decision-making and action paths, and the greatest possible flexibility. These are the best conditions for the further growth and success of our airline," continues Wolfgang Raebiger.
In more than eight months of operation, Eurowings Discover has already carried half a million passengers and flies to over 40 destinations worldwide with 15 airplanes. Headquartered in Frankfurt, the company employs around 1,000 people in the cockpit, cabin and administration.
